Outcome Communicate effectively in writing, orally, and in using information technologies. Value Exhibit professional behavior, knowledge, and attitudes, based on client-centered philosophy and ethical guidelines. Comparing Library Portals: Libguides vs. Washburn University's Locally-created Portal was created for LI846: Networking for Libraries and Information Agencies. I work at Mabee Library at Washburn University and have created multiple guides using LibGuides. I am familiar with the strengths of the LibGuides platform and used this paper to investigate the different web presences that these portals present to users. The project reflects some of the computer and technology knowledge I have gained while in the program. The paper also ties in my previous interest in folksonomies and web2.0. I gained experience evaluating an online library environment and considered how to provide better access to the numerous services that a library offers through the website. 846 Comparing Library Portals: Libguides vs. Washburn University's Locally-created Portal |
