Outcome Articulate a philosophy of client-centered information services based on the epistemological and ethical foundations of the library and information professions. Value Value self and others, i.e., possess confidence in one's decisions and value diversity in its many forms. The Interview Synthesis Paper was written for LI802: Theoretical Foundations of Service: Diagnosis and Customization. I interviewed an individual with an information need and studied their Information Search Process (ISP). During the course numerous cognitive and psychological theories were discussed and applied to the analysis of our interviewee. I interviewed a disabled individual who was trying to construct a ramp outside of her condominium unit. The information need arose because the condominium board had protested the ramp construction. The intervewee needed legal documentation that supported her right to make her unit accessible. The experience analyzing her ISP revealed ways to customize assistance based on user learning style and unique aspects of the search. The assignment broadened my idea of service and how people take in information. The individual I interviewed had a vital information need, which emphasized the importance of developing information retrieval skills. |
